“You are valuable to me, You are valuable to me…” I sang that over and over and over. Even when the worship teamed moved on, it kept replaying in my spirit. “You are valuable to me”. I think a part of me was singing it in a repentance tone. Like, I am so sorry that I haven’t recognized or given weight to the significance of having a good God on my side. Many times I have taken for granted the priceless affection I have been given, freely. Psalm 103 says, “Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, and all that is within me, Bless His holy name.” Sometimes you need to talk to your self (soul). Our soul refers to our mind, will, and emotions, and trust me it us unreliable! Any time we let our will and emotions guide us, we are in trouble. I heard my mom preach on Psalm 103 as a teenager and it changed my life. So much so that it inspired one of my tattoos. There are times when we need to take charge of our self: our thoughts and our moods. And say, “self you will bless the Lord today”! It doesn’t matter how I feel or why I feel it, I will bless the Lord. So as I sang, “You are valuable to me” over and over, that’s what I was doing. I was telling my soul we will bless the Lord and give Him priority in our life. It doesn’t matter who hurt you, it doesn’t matter why you are mad, or why you are depressed, you WILL bless the Lord.
As I continued to sing that bridge, I began to hear back, “You are valuable to me”. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard your Creator whisper to your spirit, “you are valuable to me” but it will change your world. It’s one thing to hear your pastor or your parents tell you your worth, but to hear God himself say that you mean everything to me… As I sang my song of worship to Him, He sang it back to me and it became this beautiful, harmonious exchange. Yes, you are worth Jesus to God and I could tell you that until a thousand times in a thousand different ways, but my friend, it is true. You are valuable, you are irreplaceable, you are designed with purpose, you are not a mistake, you have not been overlooked. You are completely and entirely valued by the King of Kings. I encourage you to worship and worship often. Allow God to minister to you, as you minister to Him. He is a good God, and all of His intentions toward you are Good. All of His thoughts toward you are good! And it is okay to ask God to tell you those good thoughts. It’s okay to say God I need to feel your love, I need to feel your wrap around presence. You are valued by the most holy God!
